The Bluebird is a thick and warm fuzz effect pedal that will add sustain and singing harmonics to your sound. It’s housed in a tiny 2”x2” enclosure that’s sure to squeeze onto any pedal board. The Bluebird responds well to adjustments in your guitar’s volume control to provide a wide variety of sounds in an extremely easy to use pedal.
Step on the footswitch to turn the pedal on and off. The LED lights up to indicate that the fuzz circuit is active. The powered circuit is completely removed (true bypass) from your signal chain when the pedal is off.
OUTPUT VOLUME – trimpot located near right of circuit board when foot switch is down and LED is up. There is plenty of headroom available to push your amp if needed. In general, thicker woolier fuzz tones are created when the output volume is high, and thinner 60s style fuzz tones are created when the output volume is low. This trimmer has been factory set for unity gain with the guitar volume all the way up.
FUZZ – trimpot located near left of circuit board when foot switch is down and LED is up. Go from crunchy to sustained and saturated without losing clarity.
TONE – trimpot located near top of circuit board when foot switch is down and LED is up. This control acts more like the presence control on an amplifier. You’ll get slightly more apparent volume and saturation as you turn it clockwise, along with more top end clarity.
Configuration: As you look down at the Bluebird, the LED is near the top, and the on/off footswitch is near the bottom. The input jack is on the right side, the output jack is on the left side, and the power jack is on the left side.
Power: You can only power the Bluebird with an external power supply (9 VDC) with the commonly used center-negative barrel connector. The maximum current draw is 10mA.
Circuit: The Bluebird circuit uses a TL072 dual op amp. This component is positioned in a socket to allow swapping with other op amps for sonic experimentation. Be sure to only swap with op amps that have the same pin configuration as the TL072. If you have questions about acceptable replacement op amps, please contact Henretta Engineering.
